VAW gave me the great opportunity of volunteering at a mobile clinic in Bocas Del Toro, Panama. Throughout my two weeks in Panama, I performed patient check-ins in Spanish, took vital signs, shadowed doctors and a pharmacist. This experience allowed me to practice my Spanish, gain valuable medical experience, and experience a new culture. I later became the clinical chair and trained the next cohort of students through workshops. I showed new volunteers how to take vital signs and taught them some medical Spanish terminology.

MOW allowed me to serve those in my community who are facing food insecurity. My family and I delivered meals to residents of the South Carolina area. It was awesome to be able to help people get the nutrition they needed.

As part of my Health & the Hispanic Community course at Clemson, I had the opportunity to serve as a medical interpreter for a RAM pop-up clinic. I interpreted at multiple different stations within the event, including registration, triage, medical consultations, and vision consultations. This allowed me to serve Spanish speaking patients and increase my knowledge of technical medical Spanish.
